The Lavender Menace was a group of lesbian feminists formed in 1970 to protest their exclusion from the feminist movement. The term was originally used by Betty Friedan when she claimed lesbians were a threat to women's liberation, branding them as the Lavender Menaces.

Activists reclaimed the words and famously wore “Lavender Menace” T-shirts while protesting at the Second Congress to Unite Women, helping push for greater lesbian inclusion within feminist activism. This engraved bar necklace features a heart cut-out and celebrates that history, making it a meaningful accessory for sapphics and lesbians who want to wear a piece of queer feminist history.
